Reesa Sorin's PhD thesis, Responding to the Fears of Early Childhood - An investigation of perception and practice in emotion education, focused on fear and other emotions experienced by young children; how they are expressed; and ways that early childhood educators respond to and facilitate understanding of emotions. She has since researched emotion pedagogy cross-culturally in Australia and Canada. In 2005, along with a colleague from the School of Social Work, she developed as template of ten constructs of childhood, which she is currently utilising to examine perceptions of childhood, as well as policies and practices related to early childhood education.

Reesa is Coordinator of Early Childhood Education and Coordinator of Arts Education at the Cairns Campus.
